Assessment Dive 1

2013-11-30

Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks reflection!
First off, I know that it have been a long time ago due to that the bad weather, confusion dates and a whole bunch of more bad stuff!
However, lest move on. During todays kind of like “assessment dive’’, we were supposed to meet up at 9:00 in the morning, which is quite early for being a weekend :(
But, when we know came there, which happened to be 10 minutes late… …we meet a new instructor that were going to assess what we had learnt during our course. So, firstly we began assembling our scuba unit, put on our wet suits and went down to the beach. When we know came there, I would have to say that this was probably the toughest part of the whole dive as we had to walk down the whole beach with our whole scuba unit on, which was quite heavy to be honest. But when we now came down, we started off by swimming maybe 15 meters away from the shore and then descended so that we could start showing all of the skills that we had learnt, such as clearing our masks, sharing air, showing breath control, etc.
After that, we just swam around for maybe 15 minutes and then ascended up to the surface with an alternative air source ascent, which is when you share air with your dive buddy while you are ascending. When we had done all of that, we basically just swam back to the beach and went up and rinsed all of the gear that we had used and then it was all finished. Quite a short lesson I have to tell, but really interesting and fun to be in the sea for once.

However, as I said, the most tiring part was probably to walk down the shore and then back up again with all of the gear on.

So, this was our first assessment dive and the next one, which will be for a whole day in Fujairah, will probably take place next week, but we will have to wait in order to see that.
